He is also interested in how the weather shapes a city and, in turn, how the city itself becomes a filter through which to experience the weather. Eliasson has said.

Since my childhood I used to make things with my hands, from sand castles to doll’s cloths. Starting school, I fell in love and became quite obsessed with drawing and that was basically when, at 6 years old, I realized my passion for handmade crafts and the importance it had for me. Crochet and drawing were the first forms of expression and ways of relaxing that I developed unconsciously.

Al Grumet is a multi-media artist whose work combines the tools of digital photography with the voice of traditional painting. He is a storyteller, and draws upon a mischievous sense of humor in his depiction of human choices gone awry. In the works featured here, Grumet presents environmental dramas that merge fact and fiction, and feature ghostly figures who dissolve into dystopian landscapes.

In October of 1883, a paper in the nation’s capital reported under the heading “Current Gossip” that “an Iowa woman has spent seven years embroidering the solar system on a quilt” — a news item originally printed in Iowa and syndicated widely in newspapers across the country that autumn and winter. The New York Times reprinted the report as it appeared in the Iowa paper, dismissively qualifying it as a “somewhat comical statement.”
