Discover a deep ecological awareness
Under the Maypole of a Bowerbird is a tool to help you discover artists and creatives whos work reminds us of our deep connection to nature. In the urgency of climate change, artists are able to educate, empower, and ask questions in a way that is fully inclusive, artists are vital in a moment where drastic change is necessary. Art and environmental science do not have to be separate, combined together provides an unavoidable and powerful form of environmental activism, education, and change.
Under the Maypole of a Bowerbird aims to build a bridge between art and ecology through the examples we have from emerging and historically influential artists, work that shows a holistic approach to ecological awareness by considering the environment in every form or aspect of our lives. The artists, their vision, and their work act as a reminder that we are part of nature, we depend on nature, and our actions are not separate from nature. It is also a reflection on how we see ourselves as humans, what are deemed as human characteristics might be recognised in many other species behaviours, and how we are culturally influenced by nature from our architecture, our clothes, our ideals of richness and happiness, and the food we eat.

Please use this as a positive and enjoyable learning experience, discovering our closeness to wildlife and gaining ecological awareness.
